Leah Goudsmit was born in Amsterdam in 1985, but moved to the US at 18 to study both history and film. After University Leah decided to integrate her interest in social studies with film, and work in the documentary field. She has specialized in editing documentary with a commercial feel, working for Timberland, Toyota, NRG Energy, on corporate responsibility environmentally focused pieces, and editing trailers for feature documentaries. Her film Spirit of Discovery, on the oceanographer Walter Munk and the Munk's Devil ray, premiered at the San Diego film festival in 2017. Anas v. The Giant, a short doc she edited is premiered at SXSW 2019. In 2020 Infinite Canvas, a feature directed by Ryan McGinley and produced by Apple about 7 renowned artists working with augmented reality premiered on Apple TV . Her feature documentary on the history of the NRA and guns in the USA, The Price Of Freedom, directed by Judd Ehrlich, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2021, aired on CNN in the fall and is now available on MAX.  LUCHA: A wrestling tale, directed by Marco Ricci, a documentary on a girls high school wrestling team from the Bronx premiered at DOCNYC 2023 and won the Metropolis competition. XCLD: The Story of Cancel Culture, a documentary directed by Ferne Pearlstein, produced by Trevor Noah, aired on MSNBC in April 2024.
